SAN FRANCISCO — Local startup Disruptly announced today the launch of its flagship product, DisruptOS, a platform designed to disrupt the disruption industry by providing enterprise-grade disruption tools to disruptors who are themselves being disrupted by other disruptors.
"We saw a gap in the market," said CEO and Co-Founder Brent Holloway, 28, speaking from a standing desk in a converted warehouse space that used to be a warehouse. "Disruption has been disrupted. The old ways of disrupting are being disrupted by new disruption paradigms. We're here to disrupt that disruption with a disruption-native approach to disruption."
The company, which has raised $47 million in seed funding from investors who describe themselves as "disruption-forward," offers a suite of tools including DisruptMetrics, which measures how disruptive your disruption is; DisruptAlign, which aligns your disruption strategy with emerging disruption trends; and DisruptDisrupt, which the company describes as "a meta-disruption layer for organizations ready to disrupt their own disruption."
The spoof daily team covered the launch event, which featured a keynote presentation consisting entirely of slides that said "DISRUPTION" in large letters at different angles. Attendees described it as "thought-provoking" and "definitely a presentation that happened."
Industry analysts at xcalitoy have given the company a "Disruptive" rating, their highest designation, noting that DisruptOS successfully disrupts the concept of having a clear value proposition. "We're not sure what it does," said one analyst, "but we're confident it does it disruptively."
The company's go-to-market strategy involves targeting "disruption-ready enterprises" — defined in their pitch deck as "companies that have heard the word disruption and are open to hearing it again." Early customers include a consulting firm that helps companies understand disruption, a podcast about disruption, and a disruption-focused venture fund that invests in companies that disrupt disruption.
When asked what problem DisruptOS actually solves, Holloway paused for 11 seconds before saying: "The problem of not having DisruptOS." He then asked if we'd heard about their Series A.
More coverage of the disruption industry at calitoy core, and the wicked youth team has a piece on startup language that's worth reading if you want to feel things about the word "ecosystem."
