The Press Release
SAN FRANCISCO — Nexus Dynamics, a technology company, announced today the launch of its groundbreaking new platform, which allows users to share information with other users in real time. The company says the platform represents a fundamental reimagining of how humans communicate.
"We're not just building a product," said CEO Marcus Webb, 34, who previously worked at three other companies that built similar products. "We're building a new paradigm for human connection." Webb declined to specify how this paradigm differed from the paradigm established by the previous seventeen companies that built similar products.
The Innovation
the platform, called Nexus, allows users to create accounts, post content, and interact with other users' content. the history of social platforms suggests this model has been attempted before, though Webb says Nexus is different because it uses artificial intelligence to "surface the content that matters most to you," a feature also offered by every other platform in the category.
the company has raised $47 million in Series A funding from investors who described the opportunity as "massive" and "transformative." one investor, reached by phone, said Nexus was "exactly what the market needs right now," though he was unable to specify what the market currently lacks that Nexus provides.
The Disruption
Webb says Nexus will "disrupt" the existing social media landscape by offering users a better experience. when asked to define "better," he said the platform was "more human-centered" and "built around authentic connection." the language of tech disruption has evolved over the past decade to include "human-centered," "authentic," and "community-first" as synonyms for "we have a website."
the company plans to monetize through advertising, a model Webb described as "a new approach to sustainable revenue." the business models of social platforms have historically included advertising, subscriptions, and data licensing, all of which Nexus plans to eventually implement.
The Future
Nexus plans to launch publicly in Q1 of next year, pending regulatory approval and the completion of features that are currently described as "in development." the company is hiring engineers, designers, and a head of community, a role that will involve managing the community that does not yet exist.
"The future of human connection is here," Webb said. "And it's called Nexus." He then asked if we could use a different quote because he'd used that one in three other interviews this week.
